Days of the Week

Today, we are going to learn the days of week. As you have probably guessed today’s lesson will be quick because there are only seven words to learn. But before we begin I would like to inform that most Filipinos will use English when saying the days of the week. But there will be odd times when they use Tagalog. And of course you don’t want to be that foreigner who constantly has to wait for a translation to understand what they just said.

When using the days of the week you would use them in exactly the same context as you would English. For example, someone might ask you, what day it is? Or what day do you want to meet up? In both scenarios all you need to say is Lunes for Monday, Martes for Tuesday and Miyerkules for Wednesday, Huwebes for Thursday and Biyernes for Friday.

However there might be times when that someone asks you which day of the weekend you want to meet up? To answer this simple question all you need to say is Sabado for Saturday and Linggo for Sunday.

Lesson Summary

I know that lesson was quick, but before you leave I challenge you to review today’s lesson and take the short quiz I have prepared for you.
