Common Rooms within your Home
Today we are going to be learning the Tagalog word for every main room and item found within your home. These words will come in handy when you are visiting someone’s house and need to ask, where is the bathroom? Or do you need any help in kitchen. So anyway enough about why you need these words and let’s get straight into learning.
Of course the very first word you will need is Bahay which is house. So when someone asks you to visit their home, you will be able to understand what they are talking about. And of course once you arrive at their house you will want to knock on their door. Door is Pinto in Tagalog.
From here you will probably notice many different rooms within their home. The most common ones will be a dining room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. Which are dining room, Kusina, Kwarto and Paliguan respectively.
Next within each room there will be common household items that can be found in everyone’s home. Of course in the dining room you will probably see a table which is Lamesa in Tagalog and a chair which can be translated into Upuan. In the kitchen you will most likely see an oven and refrigerator which are called Hurnó and Refrigerator. Next within the bedroom you will definitely see a bed which is Kama and a lamp which is called a Lampara.
There are also two less common rooms found in Filipino households. One being a garden and the other is an office. One of the reasons for the lack of a garden is because Filipinos seem to prefer concrete over maintaining grass. Anyway a garden is called Hardin, while an office is called Opisina.
And of course there is nothing better than having good neighbours. Where neighbour is Kapitbahay in Tagalog.
