Colours of the Rainbow
Today we are going back to pre-school to learn the seven colours of the rainbow. Right now you may be thinking to yourself, what is the point of learning basic colours? Well actually it quite simple. These words not only improve your Tagalog vocabulary but allow you to describe objects. So instead of just pointing and saying that kotse, you will be able to describe its colour. Allowing you to say the kotse is red. Just in case you don’t know kotse means car in English. And by the end of the lesson you will know how to say the car is red in Tagalog.
Before we go any further and start learning the different colours of the rainbow, it will be helpful to know the Tagalog word for colour. Which is Kulay. A simple and easy to learn word which has many different uses.
Now we can finally move onto the colours of a rainbow. We all know that first colour is red which is Pula in Tagalog. Followed by Orange which is Kahel and then Dilaw which is Yellow. The next colour is green but it has three common different words which are Berde, Lunti or Luntian. Now we will move onto blue which can be either Bughaw, Azul or Asul. Indigo is by far the easiest to learn because it is also Indigo in Tagalog. Last but not least we have violet which can be either Lila or Biyoleta.
But before we end this lesson I would like the share with you two bonus colours. Black is Itim in and white is Puti.
Well since you reached the end of the lesson I will reward and teach you how to say the Kotse is red. All you need to do is say pula ang kotse.
